The Department of Biology is a popular location for hosting various scientific meetings and workshops. Most meetings take place at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center located on campus. In the past 10 years the department has either sponsored or hosted the following meetings:
5th Annual Southern Appalachian Conference on Arthropod Biology|
This regional conference was held in Boone, NC on September 27, 2003.
Association of Southeastern Biologists - 2002 and 1991
Insect/Arthropod Symposium - 2000
A regional annual symposium on insects and arthropods, first held at ASU in 1999, and which rotates among several universities in the region.
North Carolina Herpetological Society - 2000
We hosted the spring meeting in 2000, with about 50 attendees.
Southeastern Regional Lipid Conference - 1999
A regional conference for researchers working on lipid biochemistry. The conference was held at the Hampton Inn, Cashiers, NC from November 3-5, 1999.

An international conference on chromosomes organized by Terry Ashley, Ken Shull, Steve Stack and Dwayne Wise.
Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles - 1995
